How we operate
Be helpful. If your question takes ten minutes to answer, I answer it. Not every conversation needs a fee attached to it.
Be curious. I would rather ask why you build it that way than assume you are wrong. Most of the time there is a good reason, and knowing it makes the design better.
Be positive. Problems on site are normal. Getting stuck is normal. My job is to find the path forward, not to add to the pile.
Who we work with
The best fit is an experienced builder or designer who brings a formed project, communicates by text and email, and wants an engineer on the team rather than a stamp for hire. Most of our clients are rural design-builders in southern Ontario, and most of our work comes from repeat relationships and referrals.

I spent fifteen years in consulting engineering before leaving to start a construction company. For five years I built small buildings: drawings, permits, footings, framing, trades, schedules, and the invoices at the end of it. Then I came back to engineering and started WRP Reid.
That detour is why my drawings look the way they do. I know what a framer does when a detail is impractical, and what a building official will flag. My job is not to design the strongest possible building. It is to design a building you can build, at a cost that makes sense, that satisfies the Ontario Building Code.
I am licensed by Professional Engineers Ontario, and WRP Reid & Associates Inc. holds a Certificate of Authorization to offer professional engineering services in Ontario.
